Located in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines, Rainbow has been licensed since 1991 with the Philippine government to operate a child-caring facility as well as a Christ-centered home for abused girls and unwed mothers. Rainbow’s goal is for babies and children to find a permanent home by returning the child to his/her biological parents or relatives, or through legal adoption, and for abused women the goal is to introduce them to their loving heavenly Father who will never leave them nor forsake them.

Karen Tellefson
Karen Tellefson was called to missions while in her late teens and early twenties. The Lord was faithful as He always is, to fulfill his calling of her when in 2003, Karen Tellefson was called to serve at Rainbow Village. Karen was sent to Rainbow Village, courtesy of Calvary Chapel Sacramento. Karen began her ministry by serving the Agape Girls, abused young women or unwed mothers, who need a knowledge of a God who loves them unconditionally and will never leave or abandon them. While serving the Agape Girls, Karen also exercised her nursing skills by providing care for the younger children.
Karen is now serving as the fulltime nurse, caring for the health needs of the babies, children, and young women living at Rainbow Village. Karen also conducts a Bible study at Rainbow Village for the national staff as well as one in a nearby neighborhood. She participates in the Women’s ministry at the local church by leading worship.
When asked ’What is the best thing about being a missionary in the Philippines?’, here is Karen’s response:
“The best thing about being a missionary in the Philippines, is knowing I am right where the Lord wants me. It is not about what I can do for God, but rather it is all about Him! I am unable to meet all the needs of those around me, but I can point others to Him, as He longs to be their source of all they need. God is faithful to heal physically, emotionally, and even more importantly, spiritually. I have been witness to His healing touch in the lives of many and feel privileged to be a small part of what He is doing here in Dumaguete City.
Psalm 16:11 says: ‘You will show me the path of life; In Your Presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.’
“Indeed God seeks us out to show us His ways. Obedience to His Word brings joy like nothing this world can provide.”
Both Rainbow Village and Karen are supported by donations from churches (such as Calvary Chapel Sacramento), individuals, and agencies. They are ultimately dependent on God for His continued provision, future guidance, and help to minister to the many daily needs. Checks to help support the work at Rainbow Village should include the “Rainbow Village” on the “Memo” line. Donations for missionaries, such as Karen, should include their name on the check “Memo” line.

Calvary Chapel Training Center (CCTC)
Our relationship with the Calvary Chapel Training Center started in 1988 when Lou and Sandy Correia began ministering with Intensive Care Ministries of Asia. ICMA had a vision to train pastors and Christian workers in the Inductive Bible Study (IBS) method – so they could study and teach every book of the Bible. Aspects of this ministry are now found at the Calvary Chapel Training Center, which includes the Calvary Chapel Bible College and Missionary Training alongside its IBS Workshops.
